SUMMARY |
"Brilliant. Troubled. Controversial. At one point, Diego Maradona was more worshipped than God. His 1986 FIFA World Cup victory for Argentina sealed his fame as the most popular footballer in the world. But director Emir Kusturica assumes we already know that. Here, we see a different side of Maradona, from his candid admission about his cocaine addition to his left-wing political views. Unlike conventional documentaries, Kusturica is very much present in the film, from footage of his previous works to accompanying Maradona to nightclubs and football fields. The director even admits that he feels like a paparazzo. But how else would he achieve such intimacy with this sports legend?"--Container. |
